FoodDiscovery editorial standards
Our guides combine restaurant records with menu evidence so readers can compare real places and documented prices. This page explains what we verify, what editorial judgment means and what we do not claim to know.
What our guides use
Guide candidates come from FoodDiscovery restaurant records and the menu data attached to those restaurants. Location, rating and review-count fields are taken from the restaurant record captured for the guide. Editorial descriptions explain why a stop is useful to a diner; they are not customer reviews.
How prices are verified
A price appears only when FoodDiscovery has stored a published ordering-menu record for that restaurant. A record can come from the restaurant website or an active third-party ordering storefront, so ordering and dine-in prices can differ. Every guide that shows prices also displays the month and year of the snapshot. We do not estimate a missing price, and readers should confirm current pricing with the restaurant because menus can change after verification.
How rankings and routes differ
A ranked guide orders restaurants using the guide-specific criteria described on the page, including distinctiveness, restaurant data, review volume and usefulness for that search. Itineraries and road-trip guides are ordered for practical travel rather than presented as a score from best to worst.
Restaurant and image links
Every entry links to its FoodDiscovery restaurant record, and to a full menu when one is available. Guide hero images are self-hosted and credited to their licensed source. Restaurant and dish images come from the restaurant record or the restaurant's own menu assets.
Updates and corrections
Each guide displays its publication date, latest material update and price-verification month. A material update can include a revised route, new comparison data, a ranking change or refreshed menu evidence. Closed restaurants and unsupported claims are removed when identified. Readers and restaurant owners can report a correction to support@fooddiscoveryapp.com.
Original data and citation
Original price studies publish a downloadable CSV alongside the article and state the sample size, exclusions and verification date. Journalists, researchers and restaurant teams may cite the findings with a link to the canonical guide page. The sample should not be described as a national average unless the guide explicitly makes that claim.
Advertising independence
Display ads help fund FoodDiscovery, but ad delivery does not determine which restaurants appear or where they rank. Any future paid placement must be labeled as sponsored and kept separate from editorial rankings.
